Bob-ombs (manchmal auch Bomb-ombs genannt) sind lebende, sich bewegende mechanische Bomben mit Augen, Füßen und einem Aufziehschlüssel im Rücken. Sie sind generische Gegner, die erstmals in Super Mario Bros. 2 auftauchten und seitdem in fast jedem Mario-Spiel vorkommen. Ihr Aussehen, ihre Intelligenz und ihr Verhältnis zu Mario variieren stark von Spiel zu Spiel. Sie sind normalerweise blau oder schwarz, aber einige Varianten sind rosa oder rot. Sie blinken rot und geben manchmal Pieptöne von sich, wenn sie kurz vor der Explosion stehen. Eine häufige Fehllesung ihres Namens ist Bomb-omb, aber in keinem offiziellen Mario-Spiel werden sie so genannt.
